If you’re a 13 to 18 year-old student at Cathy Hudgins Community Center at Southgate, who is seeking enrichment opportunities  to contribute to your overall development and well-being, this is for you! 
Apply today to the Enrichment Awards and unleash your potential!!

The Enrichment Award provides financial support for a diverse range of educational and life-enriching activities, including: 

  • Attending university or trade school
  • Participating in internships or apprenticeships
  • Taking specialized courses or certifications
  • Joining study abroad programs
  • Enrolling in language classes
  • Attending workshops and conferences
  • Exploring entrepreneurship or business programs
  • Engaging in research projects
  • Pursuing artistic or creative endeavors
  • Developing leadership skills through training programs
  • Volunteering or engaging in community service projects

In addition to traditional academic paths, the Enrichment Award can also be used for transformative experiences like specialized camps for younger teens, such as:

  • STEM camps: Explore the fascinating world of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics through hands-on learning experiences.
  • Arts and creative camps: Nurture your inner artist with exposure to various artistic mediums like painting, music, theater, and creative writing.
  • Leadership and personal development camps: Develop essential life skills, self-confidence, and teamwork abilities through fun and interactive programs.
  • Adventure and outdoor camps: Connect with nature, learn survival skills, and challenge yourself through exciting activities like rock climbing, hiking, or kayaking.

ENRICHMENT AWARD QUESTIONAIRE

Awards will be granted in two age groups: 13 – 15 years old, and 16 – 18 years old.  Each award will be disbursed in an amount of up to $1,000, as determined by vote and based on the number of awards approved within each age group.  All award finalists will be interviewed by members of Friends of Southgate Community Center.

The awards will be presented at the Cathy Hudgins Community Center at Southgate during our reception on May 16, 2026.  Note that award winners will be required to report back (within a year) on how they utilized the funds and how the award benefitted their stated aspirations.
